Diamonds come in all
shapes and sizes. It depends on your personal preference as to which you prefer.
Of the 4c's, the cut is the one aspect directly influenced by man. Nature
determines the others. Basically if your diamond "sparkles," it is a good cut!
Dull diamonds are often cut too shallow or too deep.
Quite often the cut of
a diamond is confused with the shape. A diamond's ability to reflect light
determines its display of fire and brilliance. Diamonds are usually cut with 58
facets, or separate flat surfaces.
A diamond cutter spends years mastering his craft, learning how best to cut a rough diamond to achieve the ultimate cut with the fewest imperfections and the least loss of carat weight. The better the cut, the more valuable the diamond.
